Finding positive energy through the power of meditation
At any given moment, our bodies are filled with internal energy. How this energy flows through us depends on a number of different factors – from how we’re feeling emotionally and what we’re processing mentally, to the state of our physical bodies or the world around us.
When our energy is flowing freely, our seven chakras are open and working in perfect harmony. Our body, our mind and our soul are all feeling the benefits. However, it’s only natural for our internal energy to stagnate – and for any of us to feel stuck in a certain way of thinking, feeling or being. This can negatively impact everything from our own personal wellbeing to our relationships, which is why it’s important to focus on re-opening these energy pathways.
One of the most effective ways to shift your energy is by calling on the power of meditation. The ancient practice, in all its forms, has been scientifically proven to uplift our wellbeing in a number of ways. We spoke with endota Retreat guide and meditation teacher Briony Goldsmith about how you can embrace meditative practice to better connect with your internal energy flow – and shift it in ways that have the most positive effect on your wellness.
What is energy shifting and how do you know when it’s needed?
An energy shift is any sort of change or re-direction of your internal energy. You can usually tell if you’ve undergone this sort of shift – either intentionally or not – by a change in your mental, emotional or spiritual state. While the aim is always to shift these energies in more positive directions, it’s understandable that the ups and downs of everyday life can send our energy in many directions – or leave us feeling like the flow of energy through our bodies has stopped entirely.
In those moments, you can work at shifting your energy to get back to a more positive state of wellbeing. “We may notice a shift in our energy by observing when our mood or emotions change”, Briony says. When you notice these, it’s time to start considering how you can shift your energy back to a more positive state.
“By observing our emotions using mindfulness, we can support emotional balance by watching them instead of allowing them to overwhelm us.”

How can we use meditation to help shift our energy?
One of the most powerful benefits of meditation is the way it enhances our mind-body connection. It enables us to become more attune with the sensations in our body – and the connection our thoughts and feelings have on that physical state as well. It’s this awareness that makes meditation so effective for energy shifting, too, so we can positively impact our physical and emotional wellbeing.
There are a number of reasons why we might need to shift our energy in the first place – and there are a number of meditative practices you can draw from to assist you in making that shift. “For instance, relaxing can affect our wellbeing by reducing our stress hormones”, says Briony. “By observing our emotions using mindfulness, we can support emotional balance by watching them instead of allowing them to overwhelm us”.
Some other forms of meditation you could embrace include:
Ready to make a shift with your own energy?
Ultimately, the reasons why you might need to make an energy shift vary from person to person – and the meditation practice you can use to help will switch accordingly too.
No matter which path you choose though, you’ll have found a powerful way to radiate a more positive energy. And your wellbeing, in the most holistic sense, will be so much better for it.
